A memorial service for Seth Rosen is set for Aug. 4 in Ohio, and a fund to support organizing efforts has been established in honor of the late CWA District 4 vice president.

Rosen, 55, died July 20 of drowning while on vacation in North Carolina. CWA members, politicians, journalists and even corporate leaders he bargained against have expressed grief at his untimely death.

Among the tributes, AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson said, “Seth was an outstanding leader and possessed a passion for the labor movement and his members. He was a great thinker and innovator. He was tough and relentless, but he showed us all the importance of working together. Seth was a great man, a good friend, and we'll miss him."

Rosen’s memorial service will be at 1 p.m.  Saturday, Aug. 4, at the West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church, 20401 Hilliard Blvd., in Rocky River, Ohio. “We will spend several hours after the service celebrating Seth's life more informally, with jams, conversation, tears and laughter,” Rosen’s wife, Kathi, posted on his Facebook memorial page.

The fund for organizing has been established in memory of Rosen’s efforts to organize workers and as well as networks of community allies working toward common goals.

To contribute, make checks payable to the Seth Rosen Organizing Fund and mail to Annie Hill, CWA Secretary-Treasurer, 501 Third St. NW, Washington, DC, 20001.

Messages of condolence may be sent to Kathi Rosen in care of the CWA District 4 office, 20525 Center Ride Road, No. 700, Rocky River, OH, 44116.
