Union Members Nationwide Standing with Verizon Workers

March 23, 2012

Guild members were among thousands of CWA and other union members across the country who rallied Thursday in support of a fair contract for Verizon workers, part of a larger fight to save and restore good, middle-clas jobs in the United States. Posted below are photos from San Francisco, Milwaukee, New York City and Washington, D.C. If you local took part in "Day of Action" events, please send information and photos to Guild Reporter editor Janelle Hartman at jhartman@cwa-union.org. Photo above from San Francisco. San Francisco

About 800 activists led by CWA and TNG-CWA Local 39521 took over Market Street main thoroughfare downtown, protesting Verizon and Wells Fargo. One common theme was, "Raises. Rights. Respect."

San Francisco Supervisors Eric Mar and Christina Olague rallied the crowd at the beginning of the march.  Supervisor Olague called on the community to reject Verizon Wireless.  "Don't upgrade your new iPhone with a company that downgrades workers," she said.
