2004 Freedom Award Banquet with 2003 winners

Annalyn Rose Censky, right, and Olivia Cobiskey share a moment in the limelight with legendary newscaster Walter Cronkite at the annual Freedom Award Fund Banquet, May 19, 2004. Censky, 17, is a student at Salpointe Catholic High School in Tuscon, AZ; Cobiskey, 33, is a student at Columbia College in Chicago.

Censky and Cobiskey flank a smiling Bill Moyers, the banquet's keynote speaker; and Debbie Barr, widow of David S. Barr, a long-term lawyer for The Newspaper Guild who championed fairness for life's underdogs. Each year, the Guild awards two scholarships in his memory to student journalists who focus on issues of social justice.
