A broad corporate reorganization may be setting the stage for a sale of some media properties by Tribune Co., according to Crain’s Chicago Business, citing documents filed in a Delaware bankruptcy court as part of Tribune’s ongoing Chapter 11 proceedings. Media Daily News speculates that Tribune may sell the Baltiimore Sun and Los Angeles Times, among other properties.

It’s not often that a journalist convinces a prominent scientist to recant a controversial study that he has tenaciously defended for 11 years, but that’s just what Gabriel Arana did last month. While working on an article for The American Prospect about his experience undergoing so-called sexual reorientation, or reparative therapy, as a teenager in the late 1990s, Arana interviewed Dr. Robert Spitzer, who authored a controversial 2001 research paper that concluded that the therapy worked for some people. Spitzer ultimately admitted to Arana that criticisms of the paper were "largely correct."

Poynter posts a memo from Times-Picayune publisher Ashton Phelps, confirming that the newspaper will cease daily publication, moving to three days a week: Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The memo also confirms staff cuts, though it doesn’t say how large they will be.
