House Democrats, Labor Huddle to Try to Delay Vote Ahead of Super Bowl in Indianapolis
“We’re living minute to minute,” Indiana AFL-CIO Communications Director Jeff Smith reported Monday night from Indianapolis. Some 10,000 union members were at the State Capitol to protest proposed right-to-work (RTW) legislation, as Democratic legislators huddled to find a new strategy for blocking its passage. Democrats have been forthright in their opposition. As Sen. Senate Minority Leader Vi Simpson stated: "Right to work is nothing more than a race to the bottom for the middle class of Indiana, and that, my friends, is not a race I care to win."
