In a Q&A on a variety of topics, the co-founder of a journalism chatroom notes the pressure in today's newsrooms. "I think the growing demand on reporters is worrisome. Reporters need to tweet, write, Facebook, shoot video and photos and blog. You somehow needs to be a jack/jill of all trades and specialized at the same time. We need to talk about balance and time management more than ever. Journalists are notoriously bad at work-life balance and the increasing demands on us are making it even harder. This is an industry full of burnout that could be prevented," P. Kim Bui says.

If the future of media is digital, who would want to buy a newspaper? Many people, it turns out. Seventy-one daily newspapers were sold in the United States last year, for a total reported to be just under $800 million. Answering the question of why is a little more difficult. 

Bleacher Report is using part of the $22 million cash infusion it received last summer to hire 20 bona fide writers. The popular site currently relies almost exclusively on rabid fans to churn out buckets of barstool-style sports chatter.
