In August we told you about an AP photographer and News Media Guild member, Gerald Herbert, who helped rescue a woman in a burning car along a Mississippi highway. Here he tells the full story, and how picking up a camera was the last thing on his mind in the moment of crisis. Only after the rescue was certain, did Herbert start photographing the scene, wanting to document the heroism of the other two dozen passersby who stopped to help. Both photographs accompanying this story are Herbert's.
